Lia Perin, a Partner at Taylor Hampton Solicitors, has commented on the findings of the external review into the current safeguards and welfare protocols in place on Married At First Sight UK in an article published by The Guardian on 5 November 2026.
In the article, Lia Perin said the findings “raise more questions than they answer”.
“Particularly concerning is the acknowledgement that elements of the show heightened conflict, created pressure for contestants to be intimate and left them dependent on production to the point of losing touch with reality,” she said. “The recommendation to expand training on consent is especially troubling for a programme built around intimate relationships.”
“These risks were not new. They were built into a format deliberately designed to create drama, and should have been addressed long before serious allegations emerged.”
