Which Career?

There are a number of options for living and working in the UK, for example if you have money to invest or you want to set up your own business. If neither of these apply, have a look at the careers that may be suitable for you. Below are some of the fields in which Britain is a leader.

Technology

The digital economy and technology firms are a massive new market in the UK and there is a skills shortage.

Whether you are starting a new digital business from scratch, or growing an existing business, the UK Government believes it is a global leader in the services it offers to help digital businesses grow faster and more efficiently. This is a scheme called Tech City and it means you can potentially bring your employees to work in the UK.

Part of this assistance is the creation of a new Tech Nation Visa Scheme which makes it possible for tech talent from around the world to come and work in the UK’s digital technology sector. The UK Government’s Tech City mission is to ensure that the UK continues to maintain its position as a globally competitive digital economy. To this end, Tech City UK has the ability to endorse applications for the Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa. If you receive an endorsement from Tech City UK, then you will be eligible to be to submit your Visa application to the Home Office.

To qualify for this visa, you need to demonstrate you have proven commercial or technical expertise in management or exploitation of a technology stack.

This visa route can be granted for 5 years and applicants can be eligible for settlement or permanent residence in the UK under this scheme.

The timing of this visa application falls into 2 stages. Firstly, there is the Endorsement Stage, which will take up to 8 weeks. Next, you can apply for the visa which will take 3 weeks if you are currently outside the UK, or 8 weeks if you are already here, either working or as a student. Fees apply for the endorsement stage and the visa.

This is a potentially great route if you want to bring your employees to the UK or if you want to switch your visa or exploit some employment opportunities in the UK in the tech sector. Contact our expert immigration solicitors who can guide you through the complex guidelines and procedure to get this Tier 1 visa.
